Como and Lake Como again.
I thought I would look around over the road. There's a church spire and also a very tall building way in the distance.
the church
So exploring I went.
this is what I'm doing in my front wall at home. I was going to collect tiles on this trip but in fact only got one. A long story.
All the while it was going uphill sometimes steeply. I'm good at uphills! I had to be mindful of the cobble stones. There are slippery and I was by myself with not a soul around. I did see a man walking his dog at the beginning of the climb and there end of the houses.
It was way longer than I thought. One of those trails that never seems to end but it was very beautiful. I really did enjoy it. I have been reading murder mysteries so it did occur to me that someone could come out of the bush. I heard walking sticks and voices behind me and wondered if they were the raping kind! Defn to much imagining
it's hard to see in this photo but there was railing on each side of an overgrown track leading downhill but. I wasn't game to go down.
The walkers with stick had arrived. 3 blokes - not sure what the language was.
There was no indication regarding the panoramic view. It was weird. How did people find this view from Google maps...

I didn't find the tall building either. But the walk was worth it.
I was hot and sweaty after my 9.17km hike so came home and had a shower. Then to the train. The ticket machine wasn't working so I got in for free.
This time it was the funicular.

I am enchanted by the engineering behind this. When I got to the top I was underwhelmed. Another tourist village although it has an extensive history. I walked around a bit. The view was obscured somewhat by the mist.
and then it was time to go down. I wanted to be at the front so waited until this one went then I was first in line.
It was a great experience. I went shopping one of the streets back from the water to explore. Lots of stairs!
I sat outside again.
extraordinary! So much fish but it was grilled as were the vegetables. It was delicious. I then had another creme brulée! And a 3rd Prosecco.
Took the train home. I was I think the end carriage - and I couldn't get out. Too late a man said I had to go to the next carriage- so I ended up at the next station and had to wait 20mins for the next train. I did squats and walking to keep warm.
Wonderful photos. Google maps has gotten me into so much trouble when I’m “off the beaten track”. And now I know why I don’t read murder mysteries!
ReplyDeleteSuch a long walk! Those funicular look amazing. I have only been in the one in Hong Kong. So cool.
