Como and Lake Como again.

I thought I would look around over the road. There's a church spire and also a very tall building way in the distance.
So exploring I went.
i found the church pretty quickly.

this is what I'm doing in my front wall at home. I was going to collect tiles on this trip but in fact only got one. A long story.
the houses are big here. Even big gardens.
road works and by the smell of day sewerage!

the church
i was headed for the green dot. Punto Panaramica. With trusty Google maps
it was so surprising to see so many very big houses.
and pretty laneways
and a garden that you would expect at home.
and so high up. Check out the steps
there was a lot of water draining from somewhere. I could hear it.
not sure if this was a river or since kind of drain. The umbrella must have blown there.
there was hardly anyone around.
an old farmhouse maybe.
All the while it was going uphill sometimes steeply. I'm good at uphills! I had to be mindful of the cobble stones. There are slippery and I was by myself with not a soul around. I did see a man walking his dog at the beginning of the climb and there end of the houses.
It was way longer than I thought. One of those trails that never seems to end but it was very beautiful. I really did enjoy it. I have been reading murder mysteries so it did occur to me that someone could come out of the bush. I heard walking sticks and voices behind me and wondered if they were the raping kind! Defn to much imagining
this is what my Google said was my destination.
lots of wood chopped ready!
it was all locked up but it seemed like it could be rented. An alpine holiday place!
it's hard to see in this photo but there was railing on each side of an overgrown track leading downhill  but. I wasn't game to go down.
The walkers with stick had arrived. 3 blokes - not sure what the language was.
There was no indication regarding the panoramic view. It was weird. How did people find this view from Google maps...

I didn't find the tall building either. But the walk was worth it.
they were doing roadworks here too!
I was hot and sweaty after my 9.17km hike so came home and had a shower. Then to the train. The ticket machine wasn't working so I got in for free.
This time it was the funicular.

I am enchanted by the engineering behind this. When I got to the top I was underwhelmed. Another tourist village although it has an extensive history. I walked around a bit. The view was obscured somewhat by the mist.
this was a path leading from the funicular. There are stops for people living here.
i thought this was a very scruffy backyard but they had chooks.
and I went up them to take the picture of the door.
another renovation!
and then it was time to go down. I wanted to be at the front so waited until this one went then I was first in line.
it is very, very long!
obviously very wealthy! He was with a serious photographer.
mesh at the top and a white line if isquat down!
waiting at her stop!
It was a great experience. I went shopping one of the streets back from the water to explore. Lots of stairs!
looks very old!
and the usual church.
Then I decided to go back to my yesterday's restaurant. The bloke greeted me warmly.
I sat outside again.
extraordinary! So much fish but it was grilled as were the vegetables. It was delicious. I then had another creme brulée! And a 3rd Prosecco.
Took the train home. I was I think the end carriage - and I couldn't get out. Too late a man said I had to go to the next carriage- so I ended up at the next station and had to wait 20mins for the next train. I did squats and walking to keep warm.
the rit16 means that's how late it is 🥺

  1. Wonderful photos. Google maps has gotten me into so much trouble when I’m “off the beaten track”. And now I know why I don’t read murder mysteries!

  2. Such a long walk! Those funicular look amazing. I have only been in the one in Hong Kong. So cool.
