Petra

Very excited to have 2 nights here. A lovely drive from the Dead Sea with a bakery along the way.

A crusader castle - Shoubak. It was amazing. On top of the great big hill. It was perched.
if you want to can have a seat
such deep valleys

Then crusaders had to pray!
one tunnel was an escape route to the bottom of the valley. The other a water supply.
arrow slits for shooting they enemy. There's always an enemy!
We climbed a long hill to get there and then clambered up steps and over walls but it was worth it.
We arrived at our hotel in Wadi Musa in time for a rest before going out for dinner to a local. Always so much food but very samey too! And there's always the gut to think about. Different food different reactions to it!!!
An early start to visit the Petra site.  We could actually walk. There is a long walk through the rocks to Petra.  There were burial time along the way.
The light on the rocks was beautiful.
this was a dam for water storage. There were water channels along the edge of the rocks to transport water.
on the left hand side.

  1. So many interesting rocks and the writing on them in some of the photos looks like art. What an adventure. Those baked goods look deeeelicious
