Hungary and Esztergom and back to Budapest

It's so disappeared from here but it is still on my website blog??? How does that happen. All I did was close the phone cos my nose dripped!!
we got here late in the afternoon. So a walk to stretch the legs and see what's around. The motel we're staying at is very classy.

It's a pretty little town made famous by the massive Basilica.

canals run into the river.
Are at a great restaurant that had tripe on the menu.
I had stewed tripe with pork knuckle, bone marrow and mushrooms with sour cabbage. It was beautiful.
i also had schnapps and rosé. I know Laszlo and Ildi had something strange too but can't remember what it was. We got to talk about Hungarian eating habits. Very strange indeed. They eat every part of an animal.

After a short walk home it was need.
In the morning we went to the Basilica. Indeed massive. Via a pastry shop for breakfast.
being renovated of course!
And then we found something amazing
look closely. Where did they get those bones. They are from famous saints?
From there we drove to another village to visit a castle. A very pretty drive along the Danube with misty mountains in the background.
a very interesting history of the evolvement of the Hungarian population.
we were up very high. You can see the mountains in the background.
whoever had the crown had the power.
it was amazing in that you had to wonder how they built it. On the top of a big hill.
After that little adventure we headed back towards Budapest to a little town in the Danube. Very quaint.
It was then time to head back to Budapest and my new abode. Thank goodness for Laszlo and Ildi. They parked nearby and Laszlo carried my bags and found the place. I forgot too take a picture. I had a big window overlooking the street and the railway station. It was a big room with not much in it but all the necessities. A shared bathroom which I hadn't expected but I got in early and the shower was good.
I did a recce at the railway station and got different information about my train to Venice. Much simpler than the info given by the railway company. Laszlo had even ring them for me.
But I had to catch the train at 6.40am - so another early start!!
Then O went and found a bar!
for my 2 glasses of rosé
And then a Turkish wrap still set for the night.
