My last day in Bologna

Up early this morning for my free coffee and brioche. I did rest before I went. A delightful breakfast!
the noodles were ok but I didn't drain the tuna enough so it was a bit wet - yuk! But it was protein!
I thought I would walk to the railway station today to see if it was ok for tomorrow. It's an easy route which is good.
It was a lovely walk. Lots of shops but also historic sites that I would never have found otherwise.
it looks like the Gateway of India. No clue.
the railway station.
the same gateway from the other end. It looks like a most around it with ruins - maybe Roman.
those look very deep - maybe something to do with the canals.
it was a fun find.
the across a road there's was this.
and this?
It looked like the whole lot of it was a welcome to the city. The only thing I could find was from Google maps.

Bologna, Emilia-Romagna

I walked back the way I'd come and then decided to send some summer clothes home to give me a little more room in my bag. Why lug stuff I can't wear. It's going to get colder from now. With advice from my host I went to the post office and bought a box. I packed it to send them went back and posted it. They didn't speak English but we got the job done! Hopefully it'll arrive home.
From there I was delighted to find the fresh food markets I'd lost on Mon.
and then the gelato shop
dark chocolate and this is the second one I've had. Beautiful.
After a rest I went out for dinner. To the place I went the night before. The night started well. I even had the same menu.
I did a dumb thing. Hooked my backpack on the chair. Initially I was a bit dubious but I was next to the entrance of the restaurant so it felt ok. Of course it wasn't. It got taken. I was so devastated. The restaurant checked the CCTV and saw the person taking it. They have be the address of the police station so I reported it.
that bloke didn't get his bag taken!
On the bright side though all I lost was my prescription sunglasses, some cheap reading glasses, my glass case and a battery pack. Oh and an emery board, a pen, a pad, some Pollo mints - trying to remember what resources was in the pocket and my backpack which I was very fond of because it was pink.
My purse and phone were in my pants pocket. I wear these pants every day because they have big pockets with zips.
It'll be a bit of a pain without sunnies but I'll have to manage.
It did put a dampener on things though.
This is what I wrote a couple of days ago and forgot to put it in.
This appears to be a very rich city. Lots of well dressed men and women and plenty of upmarket shops. What has been so surprising is the number of people on the street. Not only the ones with a bowl for a donation but several have come up to me and begged. I gave one man all the change I had and he said it wasn't enough. He was from Bangladesh. I think it's very sad.
Why are there so many people on the streets? I think a lot are refugees. What is the answer. I feel bad refusing them but I can't give you everyone I meet.
This is another snippet I wrote!
I'm in a restaurant drinking champagne. It's on the edge of a square but buses keep coming through it. They curve around the restaurant and then go down another street. PT sense to be very good here. Lots of buses around. A lot on this street are electric.

  1. Oh I hate the idea of someone having your things. Grrrrr. So good that you have zipped pockets for the important stuff. What I know of Milan is beautifully dressed people but I didn't know about the beggars. Very sad.
