Rather a strange day. The memory of my stolen backpack is still in my head. I was a dick! But didn't lose anything significant.
Walked to the train station with my bags. There are no seats in the station so I sat on a curb in a park nearby and ate some sultanas and nuts which I bought some days ago. I had had my free coffee and brioche.
Catching the train was a little tricky to start. Must be good for the brain all this learning stuff. I had to work out how to get to my platform and make sure I got to the right one. I always panic that they might change it at the last minute.
The train was fine. Got to Milan. It's a huge station and nothing in English. I asked one bloke who wasn't very helpful but then I met a girl who spoke some English and I got to the Metro and then a nice man showed me where to get my ticket and where to go after that. Got the right metro and my new abode was very close.
Unfortunately it was raining and a lot of steps out of the station! Carrying bag and umbrella can be challenging but I managed and got to my new home in the dark! Great instructions by host. A nice home and I can open the windows.
Out for dinner. Still raining. A very expensive dinner too - €55 that a some soup, some veg and 3 Proseccos.
I've found Six Feet Under on Netflix. I've got my VPN on the US - maybe that's why I got it. I'm glued. It's one of my very favourite tv series.
Oh and btw these are the 2 types of plugs. The 2 prong one is usually by the bed. In some of if the places I've stayed there's been a UK plug - service I have but it's sort of odd.
the pins are different so they don't interchange.
I was looking for somewhere to buy a power pack and a backpack so went to a shopping district. Newish I think and very big!
What I saw on the way!
that's my house.
it is truly enormous.
i think these 2 are security.
i wondered what this was! Still don't know.
this was on the other side
it's another piazza - the trees look beautiful.
this was in front of a church I think. Nice!

I didn't even know these were on the list but I liked the look of them.
looks very old and a bit sad amongst the new buildings
the steps up to the shopping district. Not sure what you do if you're in a wheelchair.
it all looks so new and big.
Then I slowly wandered back.
down through this underpass
on the other side it looked interesting
and then I saw this! A canal?
i read so excited. So Milan had canals too. This part of the canal is named in the story.

the first proper coffee - in size that is! Shame it was only lukewarm.
and my chick pea burger!! Late breakfast.
Then home. I'm had a ticket for the opera and I needed to stay awake. I had done a recce so I knew where it was and of course I had my Google maps!
I had a ticket in the gods so you're not allowed through the front entrance but around the corner and up 2 floors but many steps!
i could see the orchestra
and we had this - the words on a little screen in front of you. So cute. The lady sitting next to me set it up for me.
On my other side was a fat bloke - he was nearest the stage. He was awful. Hung his coat over the rail and had his legs spread so he was in my space then had arms over the rail as well. I gestured for him to get out if my space and remove the impediments! Over the first half he was twitchy - doing daunting in his phone and tapping. Then he left and never came back!!! Lucky me.
Of course as I knew it got very hot. Layer after layer came off. Raincoat, sleeveless puffer, polar neck woollen jumper, thermal so that I was down to my singlet!!
I really enjoyed it and only dozed for a very brief time because it was so good.
Hole to bed but couldn't get to sleep. My 1st ever Temazepam. Got them from Les - thank you!!
I love the fact that in this beautiful space there is something that goes slightly awry. It makes it all normal and real. I love it.
