The Tour Starts

I transferred over to my new hotel. 300egp for 10min drive. A rort
Adel was not happy with a $5 tip so I have him another $5. He dropped my bags at the top of the stairs!
I was able to get my room straight away. A flashier room. It's a German company as opposed to Egyptian and it had a lift. . And the best news? I have the room to myself.
I went down at 6 to meet the troops.

My first impressions :
Bob and Sophia  QLD. Bob is going to fly in fly out to the mines - underground!  Been married a year. McKay. Have known each other since school.

Jason and Keran Melbourne - they hated Dan. She reminds me of Kerry of Kerry and Cec. Collingwood supporters

Coralie - Sydney - talks a lot. - went to Patagonia this year. Been to 60 odd countries. Still talking. She hates Labor!!! Only doing to the Egypt part. She doesn't eat red meat. Eats lots of veg
I think she's a single supplement so I'm lucky.. 9 nights.

Merrill and Mike Adelaide football.

Fiona and Neil friends of Merrill and Mike. He's an engineer.

June and Peter from Bristol. They live near Long Ashton.

Omg there are people who hate Dan Andrews in this group.
Astrid not on this trip. She must have gone earlier - I met her at the airport on arrival. She knew me from FSH.
We had a welcome dinner. Dips, pita bread, chicken and skewers. At a restaurant.

The next morning it was time to visit the Pyramids. We  went early to avoid the crowds. They are quite astounding. The geometrics is astonishing.
149m high
230.6m length each side -nearly a km around.
26C BC
20yrs to build
5000yrs BC!
i climbed as high as I was allowed.
one block was up to my chin.
perspective! I think that's the entrance to the chamber above.
the King's chamber at the top. The Queen's underneath.
these were spare blocks. Maybe the cutting area
there were other buildings all around.
There were camel rides around the Pyramids. I walked. It took a while.
I've never seen a camel on its side before.
After the excitement of the pyramids we went to check out the Sphynx.
the remarkable corners for extra strength. Blocks go around a corner. How did they work that out. About the tombs there is added strength too. A true ancient wonder of the world. It's the only intact one left.
so very impressive.
It was incredibly hot. I did a fainty thing. Before I knew it my legs were up in the air - held by Mahomer, and someone was pouring water over my head and someone else gave me a fan. They now look out for me which is lovely but I'll trying to be very independent.
We then went to lunch with a view of the Pyramids.
After that a visit to the Egyptian Museum. No airconditioning unfortunately so I was very careful. There was so much information. I get overloaded so baled out after the 1st floor. I did go to see Tutankharmun's tomb which was very impressive because it was so ornate and so much gold. No photos allowed!
I then went outside to a cafe and waited for then to finish.

Everyone was shattered by the end of the day. I had a shower and a then went to the pool area and had a glass of rosé and a Greek salad. I was in bed by 7.30 for a 4am start.
We went to see papyrus made again!
